Perry Mason is an American period drama TV series that first premiered on June 21, 2020, on HBO. Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald developed and wrote the series. It is based on Erle Stanley Gardner’s character of the same name, who is featured in many detective novels and short stories. Perry Mason is a criminal defense lawyer and gets involved in many detective cases. However, the current series features on the original story of the defense lawyer and how he got into the business. Perry Mason: Plot and Cast
In the series, Perry Mason is a World War I veteran who got discharged from the service with a blue ticket. The reason for his blue ticket is allegedly mercy-killing some severely injured comrades to save them from a worse death. He is also a traumatized and alcoholic father living on his deceased parents’ old dairy farm.
Mason becomes a famous defense lawyer in Los Angeles, but how did he manage to start his career? After becoming a veteran and dealing with a divorce, he manages to get himself hired in a famous child kidnapping case. This starts his career in private investigation and later, turns him into a defense lawyer in an attempt to save a failing case.
Matthew Rhys plays Perry Mason while Shea Whigham plays Pete Strickland, Mason’s partner at work. John Lithgow plays Elias Birchard “E.B.” Jonathan, Mason’s employer and a struggling attorney. Juliet Rylance plays Della Street, E.B.’s legal secretary.
Chris Chalk plays Paul Drake, a beat policeman while Tatiana Maslany plays Sister Alice McKeegan, the leader of the Radiant Assembly of God.
