Scream 5: David Arquette will be back as Dewey Riley on the big screen!

Horror mystery franchise Scream has finally confirmed the 5^th installment in the series. After the death of Wes Craven, the director of the first four Scream movies, rumors of another movie were not given an official green signal until this year. The director duo of 2019’s much-acclaimed horror-comedy-thriller ‘Ready or Not’, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and have been assigned to be in-charge of Scream 5.

Release Date

Creators were planning to release Scream 5 sometime in 2021 before the pandemic crisis broke out. The scream was to begin production in the month of May this year. All the dates on the schedule will now be delayed as the filming will not resume before COVID-19 safety measures are put into action while allowing the economy to reopen.

Cast

David Arquette made the biggest news when he was reprised to the Scream franchise for one more project. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.”

Another recurring Scream cast member, Neve Campbell is also set to return for another installment of Scream. “The two directors wrote me a very touching letter about Wes Craven and how he was such an inspiration to them and how they really want to honor him, and that meant a great, great deal to me,” she told Rotten Tomatoes. “I’m so grateful for these films… I love Sidney Prescott. It’s always fun for me to step back in her shoes, and it’s always fun for me to see the cast come back and make one of these films again and try to make another good one.”

Another top cast member and celebrity, FRIENDS fame Courtney Cox, who plays Gale Weathers in the franchise, might also join David and Neve for another haunting adventure.

Plot

No official word is out on whether the movie will be an entirely new Scream movie or a sequel to Scream 4. Since two of the old gang are on-board, with more updates on the cast we will be able to make an exact guess. Anyways, be sure to expect some thrilling haunting mysteries in a slightly humorous air of Scream.
