Well, you (and me) are in luck, because Roald Dahl’s The Witches is being re-adapted into a movie! Plus, Anne Hathaway is playing one of the lead roles in the film.

The Witches: Plot and Cast

The movie is set in 1960s Alabama where a young orphaned boy has recently come to live with his grandmother. While staying at a hotel with his grandma, he accidentally stumbles into a conference of witches, which leads to a whole world of disasters and magic. It also results in him getting turned into a mouse by the Grand High Witch. That is a terrible occurrence so I hope none of you laughed (except if you are one of them!)

Robert Zemeckis, director of The Polar Express and Forrest Gump is responsible for the creation of this whimsical comedy. Anne Hathaway stars as the Grand High Witch, leader of the witch gang and conference while Octavia Spencer stars as the grandmother of the young boy.

Jahzir Kadeem Bruno plays the role of the boy, the main protagonist of the story. Stanley Tucci plays Mr. Stringer while Kristin Chenoweth plays the role of the mouse that the boy is turned into. Charles Edwards plays Mr. Jenkins while Morgana Robinson plays Mrs. Jenkins. Finally, Chris Rock lends his voice as the narrator of the story.

Although initially postponed, the movie is now scheduled to be released on October 22, 2020 on HBO Max. It will also be theatrically released by The Warner Bros. Pictures on October 28, 2020 in select theatres. Meanwhile, watch the trailer below:
