This is Going to Hurt is based on the bestselling book of the same name by, Adam Kay. It takes the viewers to a deeply personal and honest account of Adam’s career. He is a doctor who is junior enough to take responsibilities during the crippling hours. Also, senior enough to face a constant barrage of those terrifying medical responsibilities, as he manages through life on a hospital ward.
This is going to hurt: Cast and Plot!
Ben Whishaw will be seen leading the cast, in the role of Adam Kay. He’s joined by the newcomer, Ambika Mod as Shruti. A young junior doctor who has just started in obstetrics and gynecology, her colleague in the ward.
The rest of the cast includes Michele Austin as Tracy, a confident and sharp-witted senior midwife. Alex Jennings is Mr. Lockhart, a consultant, who is the domineering boss of Adam. Also, Kadiff Kirwan plays the role of Julian, Adam’s colleague, and a professional rival. And Ashley McGuire, the role of Miss Houghton, who is also a consultant who spots potential in Shruti.
This is Going to Hurt follows the anecdotes described in the book of the same name by Adam Kay, where he shares his memoirs about his time as a junior doctor. In the memoir he discusses “97-hour weeks, life-and-death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids”, which will soon be adapted on screen.

The series have got a new 40 second trailer for This is Going to Hurt which shows the total chaos that happens inside the hospital doors everyday. This is Going to Hurt is coming to BBC1 and BBC iPlayer on Tuesday 8th February. It’s still not known when the series will be airing in the US.
