Are you ready for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run, kids?

Aye, aye, captain!

There lives a yellow and porous sponge in a pineapple under the sea, neighbours with a squid and working at The Crusty Crab. Over the years, we have all become huge fans of him, and for good reason. Mostly, he is HILARIOUS!

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is an upcoming American live action/computer animated adventure comedy film that is based on the SpongeBob TV show. Tim Hill directed the film while also writing the screenplay and working on the story along with Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.

Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazarro worked on the music while Larry Fong serves as the cinematographer. Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon Movies, United Plankton Pictures, MRC and Mikros Image worked as the production companies. CBS All Access, Paramount Pictures and Netflix serve as the distribution companies.

What is the film all about? When is it going to come out? Is it worth watching? Well, you gotta keep on reading more in order to find out!

The Cynical Irish on IMDb detailed the plot as such:

Set before the events of the television series, SpongeBob goes on a trip to Kamp Koral and meets some new friends. However, when his pet snail Gary gets kidnapped by Poseidon and taken to the Lost City of Atlantic City, he and his new best friend Patrick must go on a rescue mission to save him from the dastardly plan of Poseidon before it is too late.

The movie will also reveal the first time our beloved characters (as kids) met at Camp…a magical moment that brings meaning to the power of true friendship.

Tom Kenny plays SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail while Bill Fagerbakke plays Patrick Star. Rodger Bumpass plays Squidward Tentacles while Clancy Brown plays Mr. Kiran’s and Mr. Lawrence plays Plankton. Carolyn Lawrence plays Sandy Cheeks.
