Created by Jemaine Clement, What We Do in the Shadows is an American mockumentary comedy horror television series. The second television series in the franchise is based on the 2014 film of the same name written by Clement and Taika Waititi. The pilot was written by Jemaine Clement and directed by Taika Waititi, both of whom are also executive producers alongside Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush.

On May 3, 2018, it was announced that FX had given the production a series order for a first season consisting of ten episodes, which premiered on March 27, 2019. The second season premiered on April 15, 2020, followed by the third season on September 2, 2021. In August 2021, the series was renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the third season premiere.

What We Do in the Shadows Plot and Cast

Although we don’t have an official synopsis for What We Do in the Shadows Season 4, thanks to cast and crew interviews, as well as the shocking ending of Season 3, we can already paint a pretty clear picture of what it’s plot will look like.

At the end of Season 3, we saw the gang go their separate ways. Laszlo and Nadja were heading to England, while Nandor and Guillermo were set to travel the world. However, we were left on a cliffhanger when Laszlo trapped Guillermo in his coffin and sent the two off to England while he stayed behind in Staten Island.

There is also the case of more energy vampire questions. In Season 3, Colin was obsessed with finding out where he came from; however, before he got a firm answer, he reached his expiration date and died. But newly formed baby Colin offers tons of potential lore and funny antics to look forward to. Along with these storylines, Season 4 will also introduce us to more supernatural beings that we haven’t met before.

The makers have not given them any words on cast members yet so, we can’t say much about upcoming casts. However, sources have confirmed a few names including Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Harvey Guillén and Mark Proksch.

What We Do in the Shadows Season 4 Release Date

What We Do in the Shadows was renewed for a fourth season in 2021. The makers have officially announced that the show is going to premiere on July 12, 2022.

For now, we can expect a new season might come with ten episodes like the previous seasons with the same runtime for each. Further details will be revealed once the show premieres.
