Directed by Joe Mantello The Boys in the Band is an upcoming 2020 Netflix original movie which is an adaptation of the 1968 classic LGBTQ+ stage play of the same name by Mart Crowley. This American Drama film is produced by Ryan Murphy, David Stone and Ned Martel. Even though the film is an adaptation, it is going to be refreshing in a new way. Amidst this pandemic, Netflix has done a great job by drawing home a vast number of shows and movies for it’s viewers.

Release Date and Trailer of The Boys in the Band:

The big news is that Netflix has announced the release date of the movie. It is all set to debut on 30th September 2020. Ryan Murphy declared on 18th April 2019 through his Instagram post that the play The Boys in the Band would be adapted for Netflix.

On 2nd September Netflix dropped the official trailer and fans are thrilled. Watch the trailer below:

The plot of the film:

The official synopsis on Netflix goes like “At a birthday party in 1968 New York, a surprise guest and a drunken game leave seven gay friends reckoning with unspoken feelings and buried truths.”

The story is set in 1968 New York City where a group of gay friends come together for a birthday party. The evening is fun-filled and full of laughter as these men talk about their lives and grievances. However, things take a turn when Alan, who is the host Michael’s friend “shows up unexpectedly and each man is challenged to confront long-buried truths that threaten the foundation of the group’s tight bond.“(Source-Netflix)

All the cast members from the play’s 2018 Broadway revival will reunite for the 2020 Netflix adaptation. Ryan Murphy is well known for including LGBT characters for his projects. The cast members of this film are openly gay.

The show stars Jim Parsons as Michael, Zachary Quinto as Harold, Matt Bomer as Donald, Andrew Rannells as Larry, Charlie Carver as Cowboy, Robin de Jesús as Emory, Brian Hutchison as Alan, Tuc Watkins as Hank and Michael Benjamin Washington as Bernard.
