Riverdale Season 5: Will We Get To See More ‘Classic Drama’ Soon?

Published

on

Riverdale is an American teen drama television series based on the Archie comics’ characters. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. The filming of the show takes place in Vancouver. The first season of the series premiered in 2017 and the fourth season in 2019. In January 2020, the series was renewed for a fifth season!

When Will We Be Able To Watch Season 5 Of Riverdale On Our Screens?

Season 4 of the show was supposed to have 22 episodes but it ended with 19. This was pure because of the current global situation and productions shutting down all over. Initially, season 5 of Riverdale was supposed to hit the screens in October 2020 but that seems highly unlikely right now. Sources also suggest that season 5 will be longer than the previous seasons. This is because the remaining content of the previous season has to be added. So, considering everything, season 5 might premiere only in 2021!

Who All Will We See In Season 5 Of This Teen Drama Series?

We will get to see KJ Apa as Archie, Lili Reinhart as Betty, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Camila Mendes as Veronica, Vanessa Morgan as Toni and Charles Melton as Reggie. We will also get to see Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl, Ashleigh Murray as Josie, Madchen Amick as Alice, Luke Perry as Fred, Mark Consuelos as Hiram and Casey Cott as Kevin.

Skeet Ulrich who plays FP Jones(Jughead’s dad) and Marisol Nichols who plays Hermione Lodge(Veronica’s mom) is leaving the show. Sources revealed in February 2020 that they would be leaving the show after Season 4. Since season 4 ended well before it was supposed to, these 2 characters will be written off in Season 5. Both Ulrich and Nichols stated that they had a great time in the show and now it is time they move forward, to new beginnings. Aguirre-Sacasa revealed to Entertainment Weekly that these characters won’t be killed off, much to the relief of many fans!

What Will We Get To See In Season 5 Of Riverdale?

Aguirre-Sacasa told sources that the team had filmed ‘more than half’ of the prom episode, which was supposed to be episode 20 of season 4. They were also wondering if they could put together an episode with the content they had filmed but then Sacasa decided against it. He said that the episode had a lot of dramatic and emotional scenes between Jughead and Betty and Archie and Veronica and that it would be an injustice to fans! He described the episode as ‘classic, typical Riverdale’.

Season 5 will also display some relationship drama, especially after Betty and Archie’s kiss in episode 17. Sources also say that fans will get to see a graduation episode and there will most likely be a leap between prom and graduation. This season is also said to have a pretty ‘intense’ episode dedicated to Toni Topaz.

I am a passionate writer just trying to figure out life and myself. Writing has always been a way of expressing myself, hence most of my work is pretty raw and unprocessed. I try my best to be unapologetic about what I write. This internship in ByProduct Ventures has allowed me to push myself and see what all I am capable of. I have always pictured the future me as someone very creative and this opportunity takes me one step towards that. Apart from writing, I also love expressing myself by painting or drawing.
