Black Beauty: Plot and Cast
While the story in the book is told in an autobiographical form by the horse Black Beauty himself, we are not sure what narrative form the movie will choose to take.
Regardless, the story sees Black Beauty chronicling his life from the beginning of his days as a foal, running carefree in an English farm with his mother, to his tough life having to pull cabs around in London. Even though he ends up happy in a country farm by the end of the story, he encounters many hardships and tells tales of cruelty as well as kindness.
Apart from describing the horse’s friendship with a young girl, the book also describes the awful condition that cab-pulling horses and their drivers in London had to go through. The low taxi fares had created an impoverished group of cab drivers in London, which was later changed as a result of the novel.
Mackenzie Foy plays Jo Green while Kate Winslet voices Black Beauty, the gorgeous horse. Fern Deacon plays Georgina Winthrop while Claire Forlani plays Mrs. Winthrop.
