Blade Runner has been one of the most successful franchises so far and it has led to the release of a few successful films. While a reboot film is on the way, the franchise is once again on the spotlight after a video game based on Blade Runner has been confirmed. The game is titled Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth and although it has been under development since 1997, a release date has not been confirmed until now.

The main plot will be set in a completely new timeline and the sci-fi world will remain the same. This will be the first game that will be released for PC and console and a few other video games have been released in the past only for VR. Meanwhile, the developers are yet to reveal a release date.

According to sources, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth and its events will be set between the world set in the film and the film Blade Runner 2049. The main premise will be happening many years after everything that happened in the short anime film Blackout 2022 where a terrorist attack blew up a nuclear missile at Los Angeles. The servers of the Tyrell Corporation were also destroyed at the same time.

The reveal trailer stated that there will be a new character who will be working for the LAPD, hinting that the story will be set in future Los Angeles. There was a blackout which led to a lot of loss and the main character would investigate a lot of places that have been abandoned or destroyed.

The official synopsis of the game states that the game will be set during the events of The Prohibition and there will be a situation where Blade Runner will have to check for other options when there are no replicants left to hunt. So this also means that the replicants won’t be a part of the new story.
