Dark and Darker: Release Date, Gameplay, and Trailer!

Developed by South Korean studio Ironmace, Dark and Darker is an upcoming multiplayer fantasy extraction game. In August 2023, the game was released for early access.

Dark and Darker Release Date

The official release date of Dark and Darker is not announced yet. The fifth public playtest for the game was revealed in April 2023 and certain things related to the game were available via BitTorrent links. Nexon later sued Ironmace on charges of copyright infringement and Ironmace replied by saying that the problem is between Nexon and an employee which would be solved in South Korea.

Ironmace also told Steam to bring back the game to the store in April 2023, saying that the claims made in the lawsuit were meritless. The court case in the U.S. was eventually rejected on August 17, 2023.

Dark and Darker Gameplay

Dark and Darker is going to be a unique experience for all the gamers considering that the premise is set in a very different world. The confrontation will be between a dungeon crawler and an Extraction RPG game. The game is going to feature a very dark theme compared to other games that we have played over the years. The game will be mixing up a lot of things taken from other games like DayZ and according to reports, it is going to be a part of the “extraction” subgenre of battle royales. There would be eight-character classes and players would get to select any one of them. The classes include fighter, barbarian, rogue, ranger, wizard, cleric, bard and warlock. The player versus player versus environment would be added inside the game, also called PvPvE.

The players would be fighting against the monsters to acquire important items and they would also need to save themselves from the dangers imposed by the rest of the players. However, the playing area would get smaller as soon as the game progresses and this will make the encounters intense. But players also need to get loot for future matches even if they emerge as a survivor in the end. The player would lose the possessions and equipment if the player dies in the battle. However, if the player is able to travel through the dungeon and survive, they can put the obtained loot inside a separate storage space which can be used sometime in the future. The players would also get to exchange items with each other with the help of in-game currency and other important items.
