I Am Groot Season 2: Release Date, Cast, and more!

Created by Kirsten Lepore, I Am Groot is an American series of animated shorts for the streaming service Disney+. It is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and features characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The series premiered on Disney+ on August 10, 2022

Lepore is also the executive producer alongside Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and James Gunn. It consists of shorts produced by Marvel Studios with Ryan serving as head writer and Kirsten Lepore as director. The show is a part of Phase Four of the MCU. A second season is already in development before the release of Season 1.

I Am Groot Plot and Cast

Since the series I Am Groot was released recently, the maker’s details related to the next five shorts shall be revealed soon. The second animated series of Marvel Studios, I Am Groot depicts a ‘narrow’ time frame, concerning the events that took place between the main occurrences of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the movie’s mid-credits scene that features a teen, Groot.

The series will have Groot in his baby days interacting and co-existing with Rocket and some new, extraterrestrial characters. As far as the first episode is concerned, Baby Groot is emerged to gather some items inside the Elector’s Qudrant to draw the Guardians (of the Galaxy), during which he causes an explosion in one of the rooms of the ship. Soon after, Rocket discovers the drawing made by Baby Groot while the latter is trying his level best to fix the hole that was a consequence of the explosion.

In another explosion, Rocket is on the verge of getting sucked out of the ship when Baby Groot comes to his rescue. Marvel Studios has retained the voice-over artists of Groot and Rocket for I Am Groot. The voice cast of the series includes Vin Diesel as Baby Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket. Along with them is James Gunn who will be making a cameo as Wrist Watch.

I Am Groot Season 2 Release Date

The first season of I Am Groot is scheduled to premiere on August 10, 2022. Keeping that in mind, we can expect that the second season should premiere by 2023.

The upcoming season is also confirmed to have five episodes like Season 1. The series is produced by Marvel Studios and Disney Platform Distribution.
