Developed by Studio Zero, Metaphor: ReFantazio is an upcoming role-playing video game which is published by Atlus. This game is the first original game from Studio Zero since its formation in 2016 by Persona series director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro.

The game takes place in a medieval fantasy world that is considered the “mirror” of the contemporary real world and follows a non-silent protagonist who must set on a journey to protect his kingdom while overcoming obstacles and forging bonds with companions he meets along the way. Metaphor: ReFantazio is going to bring some amazing features including quests where players would get to explore the dungeons. Viral screenshots have revea;ed that the game has other featrures such as Calendar and Memorandum and a separate section to count the days and check whether it is day or night.

Players would additionally get the opportunity to go through a lot of towns and the gauntlet runner would be mentioned as a means of transportation between the towns. There would be an Archetype system for the dungeon crawling and combat, which is said to be a combination of RPG job classes and the Personas installment from the Persona series.

The new game is reported to bring a different kind of experience for all the gamers around the world. However, the developers have not revealed much about the game until now.

The game was first announced under the codename Project Re:Fantasy in December 2016, with no more information revealed until 2023. The makers have not confirmed any official release date for Metaphor: ReFantazio.

However, the developers have confirmed that this upcoming role-playing video game will be released in late 2024. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
