Developed and published by Red Candle Games, Nine Sols is an upcoming 2D action-platformer video game. It is set in an Asian fantasy-inspired, futuristic cyberpunk world that tells the story of a legendary hero from the past named Yi who is on a quest for revenge to overthrow the titular nine Sols, the powerful, tyrannical rulers of a deserted realm known as New Kunlun.

The gameplay of the game is very unique where the combat focuses on the player deflecting the attacks from the other side. This also helps to get more energy and perform special attacks. The game has also taken inspiration from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the animation and storyline are the main highlights of the game. The game has a lot of elements from the Taiwanese culture and it is similar to other games of Red Candle.

Nine Sols Gameplay

The game will be set in the 2D and the main character here is Yi who needs to take down the nine Sols and get his revenge. The game focuses on close combat that has been blended with side-scrolling platforming and deflection mechanics. The main attacks feature a move where a sword is used but the players can also deflect the attacks. As the player deflects attacks from the enemies, Yi can also absorb and collect some Chi energy alongside unleashing a lot of other attacks by a process called reverse deflect. Yi can additionally stick talismans known as Foo charms to blow up during activation but deflecting also needs accurate reflexes and timing so that the Chi gets full. When the energy bat is more, there is a chance of more damage during the attacks. Yi has a lot of abilities like running, double jumping, and a lot more.

Nine Sols Release Date

On March 22, 2022, the developers announced the game but an official release date is yet to be confirmed. The game is reportedly scheduled to be released sometime in 2024.
