What You Should Know About Netflix Original Series ‘Paranormal’

Paranormal is another Netflix attempt to include different cultures and languages into its already vast catalogue of movies and television shows. It is an Egyptian web television series based on Ahmed Khaled Tawfik’s supernatural book series Ma Waraa Al Tabiaa. The author had published 81 novels for the series in 2014!

Amr Salama and Majid Al Ansari directed the six-episode long first season while Filmclinic Production Company produced the series. The spoken language of the series is Arabic, which adds to the authenticity of the show! When does the show come out? Is it worth watching? What is it all about? Paranormal: Plot and Cast

Dr. Refaat Ismail is a retired Egyptian doctor, specifically a hematologist in the 1960s. He considers himself unlucky and doesn’t consider himself smart or capable of solving his own problems. He is a sarcastic man albeit secretly kindhearted.

Refaat has a tendency to get into supernatural situations and mysterious events that he tells in this series through stories. Most of these he experiences himself, but some have been narrated to him. He meets his childhood friend Maggie McCaleb again who he first met in Scotland while he studied there. She is the daughter of his Scottish professor Sir James McCaleb and our protagonist’s first love.

Ahmed Amin plays the main protagonist, Dr. Refaat Ismail while Reem Abd El Kader plays Shiraz. Samma Ibrahim plays Raeefa Ismail while Razane Jammal plays Maggie McKillop. Aya Samaha plays Huwaida Abdel Moniem, Refaat’s ex-fiancée. She pretends to be fragile, feminine and ignorant and breaks up with him later.

Rushdi Al Shami plays Reda Ismail while Batea Khalil plays Talaat. Abdelsamee Abdallah plays Kamal while Adam Wahdan plays Taha and Fatima Al Banawi plays Nargis.
