What is Diaper Cut controversy?

The movie portrays Natalie Portman in the character of NASA astronaut Lisa Nowak. The police arrested her in 2007 for kidnapping and other charges. But the names of the real-life characters don’t appear in the film. Lisa Nowak becomes Lucy Cola, Colleen Shipman becomes Erin Eccles, and Bill Defelein becomes Mark Goodwin. This is a real-life story. There are allegations that the astronaut wore a diaper during her air travel. Many fans know this story and they anticipated the same to appear in the film. But unfortunately, the makers did not include the scene, leaving fans’ aspirations in vain.

When asked about the cut, the director Noah answered, “That detail just didn’t fit into the story. I had a memory of a moment in time when the real story made headlines. But I didn’t know a lot of it, other than the tabloid details. What was interesting to me, as I thought about taking this on, was what’s really behind a tabloid story? A human being with dignity who made some bad choices and ended up in a story that is now smaller than it should be. Her human experience has been reduced to a joke, on some level. I wanted to try to tell that story, and allow her to retain her dignity.”

Back to the real incident, Nowak with the help of lawyers denied the diaper claim that she never wore such. But investigations in her place and car revealed that she owned a buck knife, a BB gun, and a map to Colleen’s house. Along with these objects, there were toddler diapers in her cars which confirms the controversy. Her claims may or may not be true. But fans’ beliefs should be answered.
