The renewal of The Handmaid’s Tale was announced long back, last year. Most of the filming work is also done. But the current pandemic situation led the team to wrap up for now. We don’t know when the work can resume. Elisabeth Moss who plays June Osborne, the lead in The Handmaid’s Tale, expresses her concern in delay.

In a post, she shared recently on Instagram, she says that the filming is currently put to a halt because of the pandemic and consequent inconveniences. But she also expressed that she puts forth her crew’s safety first. “We shut down production of season four to preserve the health and safety of our cast and crew and join the world in an attempt to flatten the curve. We hope to be back in production work as soon as it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and take care of yourselves. So much love from our family to yours.” This was the exact words she put on her post.

The Handmaid’s Tale is a beautiful story revolving around characters from Margaret Atwood’s novel series. It is important to note that Margaret is a Booker prize winner. She wrote several novels that are made into series. However, the new season will be based on The Testaments, her newest published book. The cast includes Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, O.T. Fagbenle as Luke, Joseph Fiennes as Commander Waterford, Alexis Bledel as Emily and Joseph Fiennes. There will be no additions to the cast as of now. However, there is an elimination. Rita played by Amanda Brugel will find no place in the upcoming season. The creator of this sci-fi mystery is Bruce Miller. Compared to books, TV adaptation is far more intriguing.

In July 2019, the showrunners announced the renewal of the show for another season. But it is still taking more than a year to reach us. The series once completed will be available on Amazon Prime to watch. This time, the producers and creators have planned much exciting stuff for us.
