Developed and published by Illyriad Games, Age of Ascent is a video game that aims “to become the biggest MMO ever”. The game uses an on-demand scaling cloud-based architecture and features real-time direct piloting in a single integrated universe and was announced on February 28, 2014.

Age of Ascent was planning to break a record of the World’s Largest Videogame PvP Battle in March 2014 in a public alpha. The alpha was made for more than 10,000 players with a different kind of mechanism which can include around 2 million players. They usually had 997 players with 2% of the deployed server CPU capacity and failed to break the record set by 4075. There is a different kind of thing added to the game this time which is based on the browser and it is dependent on WebGL for being implemented. Players can easily enter inside and start playing despite the device that he or she is using and they do not need to install any kind of plugins, apps, or executables.

The game is powered by Microsoft Azure and it has been made from the ground level which means that it can be operated on hundreds of computers. Microsoft Technology Centre was joined by Illyriad Games alongside the Microsoft Developer Experience Technical Evangelism & Development team to explore the Azure platform. The game has been already partitioned into several data centers and is distributed all around the world, providing more bandwidth and low-latency network access for all gamers.

Age of Ascent is reportedly going to feature a different world where you will be able to fight and defend yourself at the same time. The graphics are said to be of top quality but unfortunately, a lot of details about the gameplay is not available for now. CEO Hames Niesewand has also stated that the game will help the players to cooperate with the movement of the ship just like how the Wall Street trading algorithms keep a watch on the price of the goods at the market. The gaming studio said that they have put a lot of loads inside the game which means that there is no clarity on how many players it is going to support.
