Black Myth: Wukong: Trailer, Release Date, and Gameplay!

The upcoming action role-playing game Black Myth: Wukong, by Chinese developer Game Science, is based on the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. CCTV has already allowed the game to use their theme song which was featured in the TV series Journey to the West, which premiered in 1986.

A pre-alpha gameplay video with a running time of 13 minutes was shared by Game Science in August 2020. The video received billions of views and they then released another gameplay trailer the following year, revealing about the characters inside the game. The same year, a new gameplay trailer was released, disclosing that the game has been now shifted to Unreal Engine 5.

Black Myth: Wukong: Gameplay

The main protagonist will be a monkey from Sun Wakong and he has been named “the Destined One.” He can fight enemies and can change himself into a flying insect and giant monster.

The developers have not disclosed a lot of details about the gameplay so far. However, a few reports have revealed that the basic premise is taken from the book, Journey to the West. The lead character is reportedly a popular face in Chinese folklore.

The combat technique is also going to be different. The enemies would mostly include fairies, monsters, lords, and cowards. The game is also going to get a lot of updates in terms of the visuals and frame rate. It is reportedly going to take around 15 hours to complete the entire game.

Black Myth: Wukong Release Date

Game Science revealed in an interview in 2020 that they were planning to release the game by 2023. It will be available for both PCs and consoles. It can be purchased once. However, the release date was later shifted to 2024 and Game Science also confirmed the same.
