L.A.’s Finest is a police procedural comedy drama series. The show made its debut on Spectrum in May 2019. It was the first premium content created for the cable provider and was also the debutant series under the Spectrum Originals banner. L.A.’s Finest is a spin-off from the Bad Boys film franchise by George Gallo. Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier are the co-creators of L.A.’s Finest. They also serve as executive producers on the show.
Fox’s official webpage of the show describes its synopsis something like this-
“Taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while skirting the rules, and speed limits, LAPD detectives, Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) and Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives.”
Cast of L.A.’s Finest
The show stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba as the main protagonists of the show. Gabrielle Union plays the role of Special Agent/Detective Lieutenant Sydney “Syd” Burnett. She is an ex-DEA agent who has been transferred to LAPD. She is also the sister of Detective Marcus Burnett from the Bad Boys franchise. Jessica Alba plays the role of Nancy McKenna, who is a stepmother and a former career criminal, and is now Syd’s partner in LAPD.
Other cast members of L.A.’s Finest include Duane Martin as Ben Baines; Zach Gilford as Ben Walker; Ryan McPartlin as Nancy’s husband and Los Angeles district attorney Dr. Patrick McKenna; Sophie Reynolds as Nancy’s stepdaugher Isabel “Izzy” McKenna, and Ernie Hudson as Syd’s estranged father and ex-LAPD cop Joseph Vaughn.
Release Date of L.A.’s Finest
The first season of the show aired on Spectrum in May 2019. In the following month, it was renewed for a second season. The second season aired on Spectrum on September 9, 2020. All episodes of the show were released simultaneously. Fox released their fall schedule in May 2020, in which they slated L.A.’s Finest for its television debut on a Monday. The first season of L.A.’s Finest is set to premiere on Fox on September 21, 2020.
