Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4 is a forthcoming game created by Retro Studios and released by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It was revealed during the E3 2017 online showcase and was believed to be created by Bandai Namco Studios. Soon after the declaration, Bill Trinen announced that Prime 4 would not be created by Retro Studios, the studio that had published previous Metroid Prime games, but would be produced by Kensuke Tanabe.

In 2018, Eurogamer reported that Prime 4 was being created by Bandai Namco Studios of Japan and Singapore. Bandai Singapore employees included former LucasArts employees who had worked on the dropped Star Wars 1313.

At the beginning of 2019, the production began again under Retro Studios, retaining producer Kensuke Tanabe.

Looking for a lead producer?

On August 14, 2020, Retro Studios posted that they were searching for a lead producer to join the Metroid Prime 4 project.

Release Date?

Nintendo has given no hint as to when it will release the game. However, considering that the game was restarted at the start of 2019 and it normally takes around three to five years for the game to be developed. So it’s believed that this game will not be released until sometime between 2022 and 2023.

Trailer

Since the teaser premiered in 2017, it’s pointing to a separate Metroid Prime 4 experience than the one we’ll finally have. After all, the game is in the possession of an entirely different team.

What gameplay to expect?

It’s tough to say anything specific about Metroid Prime 4’s gameplay because we don’t have any screenshots or videos.

Continuing where the trio left off might make sense for the fourth game in the Metroid Prime franchise. But it’s not sure until there are some details from Retro Studios or Nintendo.

At the very least, it can be assumed that Metroid Prime 4 is expected to have gameplay comparable to the first three Metroid Prime titles. That means it’s going to be a first-person shooting with the same discovery and enhancement functionality you’d expect from any Metroid title.

If Metroid Prime 4 is a major holiday surprise from Nintendo, it will make their Christmas plans even easier. As of now, the remainder of 2020 is empty for the Switch makers. Although the rumors of the Super Mario 3D series continue to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the plumber.
