Mewgenics: Gameplay, Trailer, and Release Date!

Developed by Edmund McMillen, Mewgenics is an upcoming tactical role-playing roguelike life simulation video game that is published by Tyler Glaiel. The game was originally announced by Team Meat in 2012 as a follow-up to Super Meat Boy, and experienced a protracted development cycle, before being canceled and subsequently reacquired by McMillen for development with Glaiel in 2018

Mewgenics Gameplay

Mewgenics will be a role-playing game like the rest of the games and it will be separated into two different stages. When the game starts, the player will be given a team of four cats and they feature character classes. This includes hunter, mage, and healer. All the cats have their own abilities and they also have access to mana reserves which are going to affect their roles and performances. The cats are expected to impact the main statistics with the help of clothing and other elements. The combat segment will be set in a grid which is formed with a particular procedure along with a dimensional isometric perspective and the team needs to take down all the enemies before progressing further.

The characters need to move with care and also use their specific abilities and the passive abilities are going to leave an impact. The environment is also going to affect the combat and the weather is also going to have a similar impact. When a cat loses all the hit points, it is going to suffer severe consequences like brain damage and might get killed with three different blows from the enemies. The items will no longer be available after a cat dies and only the exclusive items will be dropped once. The player can also decide to level up any cat and this will bring improvement to the abilities. Breeding is the second stage of the game and this will be activated when the player completes the entire run.

The remaining cats can return to the house hub and carry the statistics alongside equipment that could be used by the rest of the cars. Two cats can also mate leading to the birth of another cat getting the traits of his parents. Inbreeding refers to the breeding of cats with parents resulting in mutated offspring having a lot of deficiencies.

Mewgenics Release Date

The official Steam page for Mewgenics was launched in October 2022. This was reported to be one of the best roguelike legacy games and journalist Russ Frushtick of Polygon also reviewed the game in Halloween the same year. The gameplay was also explained during the reviews along with the development history by McMillen and Glaiel.
