Created by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, “Prodigal Son” is an American procedural television series that follows Malcolm Bright, a former FBI profiler, son of a serial killer, who suspects that he himself might become a sociopath. He solves crimes for the NYPD as a form of absolution for his upbringing, the second season of which premiered on January 12, 2021, at 9 P.M ET.
Season 2 is likely to continue building on Ainsley’s transformation and how it affects a perennially traumatized Malcolm, who—in the complete opposite manner—was able to prove that he was not his father.
Additionally, as Fedak teased back in late April of the Season 2 direction:
“We always have ideas. We actually have two episodes that we had to scrap, so those are two zones that we want to go back to. We come at it on a seasonal perspective, this season was about Bright coming back to New York and opening up the mystery of the girl in the box and trying to understand that and in season two, there’s things we want to do, they’re like chapters.”
After few weeks of hiatus, season 2 picked up right where it left off on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 9 P.M ET on FOX.
Tom Payne, as the sturdy Malcolm, opens the new episode as always, through his morning routine. Contrast is shown in Malcolm and Simon’s morning, where Simon dominates. After his routine, we see that Simon looks through the photos of the White family, looking for instances in Nicholas Endicott’s murder.
