Witchfire: Release Date, Gameplay, and Trailer!

Developed and published by The Astronauts, Witchfire is an upcoming first-person shooter video game and was released for Windows PC in early access in September 2023. It is to be an action-oriented, skill-based first-person shooter game with no cutscenes which will also feature elements commonly found in roguelike games.

Witchfire Gameplay

Witchfire is a first person shooter which is set in a dark fantasy world and the main character will be a witch hunter, called the Preyer. Preyer has a lot of powers which he has obtaiend through Pagan magic for getting help on a hunt for the witch of the Black Sea. The witch also has a solution to turn the tide of battle, an invaluable artefact which will help to fight against the witches. The only problem is that the witch of the Black Sea is protected by a phantom army which needs to be finished at first.

Witchfire Release Date

Witchfire was officially announced during The Game Awards in 2017 and a release date for the early access was confirmed by 2022. However, the early access was delayed to early 2023 and the game was confirmed to arrive by September 20, 2023 for Windows PC through the Epic Games Store. The development team had nine members with three contributors but it is not linked to director Adrian Chmielarz’s Painkiller, which was released in 2004. The game was also influenced by Dark Souls and Destiny Series and the artwork is inspired from the work of painters like Thomas Hill, Albert Bierstadt, and Frederic Edwin Church.
