Is Ryan Gosling going to be the next ‘The Wolfman’?

Oscar-winning actor Ryan Gosling is officially up for the remake of the 1941’s The Wolfman, Universal Pictures confirmed the news. After the success of the classic book adapted movie The Invisible Man, the production house was inspired to re-create more such classics and bring forward the old hits, giving the modern touch to them.

According to Variety, Gosling is already firmly on board and Universal executives are currently interviewing directors for a new take on one of the all-time horror classics. Even though not much has been known about the plot, but it is said to be much like the 40s one. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, who wrote for Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, have written the script, which is based on an original pitch by Gosling himself. So it sounds like he’s pretty into it, but there has been no confirmation of the commencement of the shooting, let alone the release.

Back then the movie was written by Curt Siodmak and produced and directed by George Waggner. The film starred Lon Chaney Jr. in the title role, and Claude Rains, Warren William, Ralph Bellamy, Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi, Evelyn Ankers, and Maria Ouspenskaya as the recurring stars. As the name suggest, the werewolf movie revolved Larry Talbot, who went back to his home town after the death of his brother, and settled down there for his family in order to take care of the family estate. He soon grows a love interest for his neighbour, Gwen. One day, after dropping her, Larry got bitten by a wolf, which turned him to a half-human being and half-wolf.

It would be a huge opportunity for Gosling, to re-create the magic again, and give birth to a moment of nostalgia, expected to thoroughly be enjoyed by the oldies and the new generation kids.
