Fortnite’s latest season is nowhere and it took a storm with it. Epic Games launched the long-delayed Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3, after a major incident earlier this week that saw the game’s battle of the royal island covered by water.
The latest season has buried large parts of the island, providing a greater emphasis on aspects of underwater gaming. This includes a modern Waterworld-style floating city, and the opportunity to ski the water — while dragged by a shark.
New Map
The main shift is the map. Much of the island’s western part now is submerged, effectively replacing sites such as Slurpy Swamp and Weeping Forest. Meanwhile, the area recently demolished by the Company now appears to be some sort of highly fortified fortress.
The updated map makes the game’s boats even more accessible, while the new season also adds additional accessibility possibilities, including the above-mentioned water skiing; you’ll be able to capture a shark, of course, by fishing. Many major changes include new NPC enemies dubbed Marauders.
Battle Pass
Like always, the latest season includes a new Battle Pass packed with cosmetics that you can buy for about $10, or a high price Battle Pass for 2800 V-Bucks. Includes New Skins, Back Bling, Gliders, and more. There’s a brand-new adjustable Umbrella too in this season.
Aquaman replaces Deadpool, and also there are 100 tiers of goodies for anyone eager to get to work. This time around, there are two Tier-100 skins too, which is cool.
New Guns and Mythic Guns: Charge Shotgun and Flare Gun enter the battle, and a new suite of POI bosses have some more mystical weapons to try out.
Epic here continues a culture of Chapter 2 by not including formal patch notes, but patch notes are much the same.
Epic has also announced that the real vehicles will be heading to the game later in the season, the first for Fortnite. It seems that the flood is not necessarily a regular presence
Despite the apparent long wait, Epic succeeded to hype the new season in impressive fashion, with the “device” launch on Monday, which saw 12 million players take part online, with more than 8 million more watching Twitch with YouTube.
