When the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be released this holiday season, Marvel’s Avengers will be among the games ready to play instantly, confirmed by publisher Square Enix.

Marvel’s Avengers is an upcoming immersive, action, and adventure-packed video game developed by Square Enix. Taking on the Avengers superhero squad of Marvel Comics. The game is influenced by the long-running comic book universe and interpretations of other media.

Gameplay

The main storyline of the game occurs 5 years after A-Day. A day of celebration for the Avengers, where the tragic event ended with death and destruction, and the Avengers were accused of it. The squad is forced to re-assemble to save the earth from peril.

The game can be played both offline as a single-player experience as well as online with up to four players in some parts of the game. The game will have several customization choices, including skills and costumes that can be updated using an ability tree. Costumes come from “all parts of the Marvel universe” and can be ordered individually as DLC. Players can also get free updates that include new regions and characters.

Platforms

The game will be played on Stadia, Windows, PS4, and Xbox One from 4 September 2020 onwards. However, owing to its limited features, it will not be available for the Nintendo Switch. The title will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X as all consoles are introduced, with PS4 and Xbox One users being able to switch to the next-gen version for free.

PS5 users will have the option of playing Marvel’s Avengers in some kind of an “enhanced graphics” style which aims to “attain the highest possible image quality”, probably with a frame rate of 30 fps, or “max framerate mode” which, as per Snethen, “targets 60 FPS with realistic 4 K resolution.”

The announcement came as Sony is yet to reveal a formal update schedule for next-gen consoles. Because of an official scheme, some developers take it upon themselves to deliver such updates free, including EA with FIFA and Madden 21, and now Square with Avengers.

Marvel’s Avengers will be launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC for the first time on September 4. Additional information will be indicated during a live stream centered on Avengers on June 24.
