The game’s development was being questioned for a long time and there were a lot of rumors about it. The game was said to be a sequel and the developers remained silent until it was said to be an official prequel during the E3 2017 conference of Ubisoft. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is said to be set in an open world and it will be a third person shooter taking place a generation before the events of the first game. It has a lot of traditional role-playing elements and the player can also generate a new character at the beginning of the game. The charatcer could be a male or female and while the player continues to complete all the quests, they can bring improvements in multiple attributes like getting spacecraft and crew members. Players can make upgrades to their things and the same thing can be done for the crew members. The players can also visit planets that have their personal societies and they also get new technologies to update the spacecraft after completing the tasks. Late Michel Ancel once said that they are anticipating a narrative element which has some fixed story events along with events based on the decisions taken by the player while exploring planets.
