Borgen Season 4 On Netflix: Catch All Updates

The streaming giant Netlfix is rejuvenating yet another decade-old Danish political drama TV show, Borgen.

Created by Adam Prince, the show narrates how Birgitte Nyborg, a minor centrist politician, becomes the first female Prime Minister of Denmark against all the odds.

Borgen, literally “The Castle”, is the informal name of Christianborg Palace comprising of all three branches of the Danish government. It consists of the Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Supreme Court.

The first three seasons aired in Denmark between 2011 and 2013.

Borgen is produced by DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation which had previously produced The Killing.

Release Date on Netflix

All three seasons of Borgen, the critically acclaimed Danish political thriller series is coming to Netflix globally on June 15th, 2020 (the date has been moved for the US to June 22nd, 2020). It comes as Netflix has picked up the series for season 4 due out in 2022. The revival will be co-produced by DR and Netflix coming together.

Netflix has bought the rights to the shows.

The show, on many occasion, has been compared to The West Wing in terms of quality. Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers, The West Wing is likely one of the next shows to depart from Netlflix as HBO pulls it back for HBO Max.

The Danish show stars Sidse Babett Knudsen as Birgitte Nyborg Christensen, Birgitte Hjort Sorensen as Katrine Fønsmark, a Pilou Asbaek as Kasper Juul, Soren Malling as Torben Friis, Mikhael Birkkjaer as Birgitte’s husband.

The original creative team, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen are expected to reprise their roles. The next season of the Danish political drama is in development. Keep tuned for the latest updates.
