The Umbrella Academy: Season 2 Release Date and more!

Created by Steve Blackman, The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero TV series based on Dark Horse Comics’ comic series of the same name. The series revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an approaching apocalypse.

The series is produced by Borderline Entertainment, Dark Horse Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions.

The initial depiction was devised for a film by Universal Pictures in 2011 but eventually turned out to be a series by Netflix in 2017.

Set in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario – the show stars Ellen Page, Adam Godley, Mary J. Blige, Robert Sheehan, Cameron Britton, Colm Feore, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Sheila McCarthy, Justin H. Min and Jordan Claire Robbins.

How did the viewers take it?

Netflix released the first season on Netflix on February 15, 2019. It received positive reviews from critics, with many praising the cast and visuals, though the tone and pacing were criticized by some. In April 2019, Netflix reported that 45 million households had watched season one during its first month of release.

What’s The Umbrella Academy About?

The show revolves around the Hargreeves children, a group of 43 gifted kids all inexplicably born on October 1 1989 to random unconnected women, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves adopts seven of the kids, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world.

In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands. Only later, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death, but different personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat.

The Official Trailer
