Reason behind why Bucky didn’t get Captain America’s shield?

Avengers Endgame was heartbreaking for all the fans worldwide with Iron Man bidding farewell and Captain America retiring from the team. But there’s still some mystery left behind Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America played by Chris Evans, as to why he handed over his iconic red, white, and blue shield to his partner, Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon played by Anthony Mackie instead of giving it to Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan, who is his oldest and dearest, and also, it seemed the obvious choice for him. This made the fans raised their eyebrows, and they’re curious why Russo Brothers let this happen.

In an interview, the Winter Soldier a.k.Chris Evans said he is in favor of Steve’s decision of giving the shield to Sam. He continued that Bucky was traumatized by a war experience, and he was affected by it for the rest of his life. So, he wants Bucky to restart again, for him and for Steve in away. It didn’t feel like that the shield was going to bring up any change. Steve wanted Bucky and him to lead a normal life for a while, and putting up with the responsibility of the shield was not the right decision.

Meanwhile, Russo Brothers also explained the reason behind Captain America’s decision. Joe Russo said that Sam Wilson has his free will, and the ethics of Captain America as the service is of the military, whereas Bucky has the ability to corrupt his mind and can always be taken over by someone. Bucky approved Steve’s decision in a subtle way, which makes the decision plausible for the fans. In the upcoming Disney + show, we can see how Sam Wilson a.k.a Falcon is handling the responsibility of the shield, and we can enjoy Sam and Bucky’s friendly banter during the show.
