Redmi Go Android Go smartphone with 4G VoLTE launched in India for Rs 4,499



Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Go today. As the name suggests, Redmi Go an Android Go-powered smartphone. The device is priced at 4,499 INR. This is the cheapest smartphone from Xiaomi India. Xiaomi is tossing this entry-level smartphone for folks who are moving from feature phones to the first smartphone. If you’re living under the rocks, Google’s Android Go is intended and designed to run better on phones with 512MB or 1GB of RAM. The idea behind Android Go is to carry in the latest software to the low budget. As part of the Android Go experience, the device runs a lighter version of Google apps which are faster and uses fewer data. Go edition of apps are YouTube Go, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Assistant and the list goes on.

Redmi Go: Specifications and Features

The Redmi Go boasts a 5-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 720 pixels. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 SOC coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB of on boot storage. The storage of the phone can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone also includes an 8MP camera on the back paired with LED flash and has a 5MP front-facing unit for selfies. All this is backed by a 300mAH battery which isn’t bad considering the display and UI. As said earlier, the device runs on Google’s Android Go program with Android 8.1 Oreo running the show. Overall the Redmi Go is a decent offering from Xiaomi. The phone looks like the Redmi 5A in almost all aspects. Although the phone has a plastic metal body, the Redmi Go phone seems well-built and light in weight.

Redmi Go Price in India

The Xiaomi Redmi Go will be obtainable for 4,499 INR starting March 22 on Flipkart, Mi off-line and online stores. The device will be available in black and blue colours. This phone from Xiaomi will well compete against the Nokia 1, JioPhone 2, Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, Micromax Bharat Go and other entry-level smartphones.
